Counselling

Why Should I Seek Counselling?

At times we need outside help from a trained, licensed professional in order to work through life’s problems. Through therapy, psychologists help people of all ages live healthier, more productive lives. Psychologists apply scientifically validated procedures to help people change their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

Counselling is a collaborative effort between an individual and a psychologist. It provides a supportive environment to talk openly and confidentially about concerns and feelings. Psychologists consider maintaining your confidentiality extremely important and will answer your questions regarding those rare circumstances when confidential information must be shared.

What to Expect?

Every therapy session is as unique as each individual client. Initial sessions are intended to provide the therapist with a thorough description of your problem, what solutions you have tried, and what your goals for therapy and the future may be. This typically requires the duration of the initial sessions.

Subsequent sessions focus on solving your problem and any new issues that you choose to address. Although Solution Focused Therapy typically lasts five to ten sessions, treatment takes time, expecting a quick and easy fix in one or two sessions is generally unrealistic.
